Frontier

Overview

There's an old belief that wherever the marking that frontier outlines is a body area that is prone to injury. And since this marking often shows on the marking throw, especially older rex complain about it being a foretelling of back pain.

Rules

  • Frontier outlines any markings you choose as long as the markings have a defined edge!
  • Frontier can be darker or lighter than the base coat. OR a color that is present somewhere on the coat. This includes Fisher's Blush, Pigment and Arcane.
  • Frontier's thickness can vary.
  • You are allowed to omit some lines from the marking should the necessity be there
(Other markings sitting on top, body proportions, the marking gets hidden by a gradient, etc)
  • Mind places where lines overlap!
  • Frontier should never come off as another marking that lays beneath the one you are putting frontier around! Don't make it too thick!
    • Generally, Frontier should not be thicker than 70px around your marking.
  • If frontier ends up obscuring other markings, you may get asked to clean it up a bit or put it on another marking.
    • Make sure it clearly shows as a line around a marking and never otherwise!

Boundaries

Copy paste these images directly into your art program over your design and set them to multiply for the best work effect. Alternatively you can download the boundary PSDs with the marking boundaries!

Special Interactions

Some markings interact uniquely with Frontier, creating distinctive presentations when combined. Here's a list of these special markings.

Daub

Whenever Daub and Frontier are both present on a geno, Frontier is allowed to show up as a organized mottling surrounding the marking's edges instead of a solid line! This may affect as many marks as you'd like!

Petal

When Frontier and Petal are both present on a geno, Petal is allowed to affect other Defined-edged markings! Petal can then erase small portions from affected markings' edges and add more spots on the outside, almost giving a mottled effect. This effect should never take up more than 50% of a marking's edges!

Arcane

Arcane and Frontier have a rather neat, unique interaction. Should Arcane be present, the rolled Arcane color is allowed to be worked into Frontier in soft gradients.

Caelestia

Whenever Frontier and Caelestia are on a geno, you may choose Caelestia as an affected marking! In this case, Frontier should have an undefined edge.

Frontier-Only Examples

Frontier needs to be around the entire marking unless a body part interferes with it.
A somewhat textured edge is allowed! Be careful so it does not look mottled. There should be no holes in the edge.
