Roles of an Admin

Admin work is a rewarding way to give back to the community and help support a game you are passionate about. However before you set your heart on becoming an admin, there are several things you need to consider:

- Admin work will take away from the free time you have to play the game

- You will have access to plot/spoilers/internal politics that can ruin the fun/magic of the game

- The game is still in development and requires greater time commitment than an established ARPG

- This is a volunteer position. Admins are compensated weekly with in-game currency for the work they do, but it's not a significant reward. For the most part, this is a Labor of Love!

Time?
We recognize the time commitment required for administrative tasks, and we appreciate that our moderators, too, would like to enjoy the game. Unfortunately, these duties often prevent them from doing so. To compensate for this, we are issuing a 'decadracm' each week. This unique item can substitute for one piece of artwork. It will yield either Magic Points or an Activity Roll, serving to balance the time our moderators invest in maintaining the game itself.

Expectations

You should anticipate spending about 5-10 hours a week doing admin work. This includes working your area queues, answering player questions, engaging with the community in the discord, participating in admin discussions/planning and miscellaneous duties. While you are learning, working your area queues will take more time than normal as you familiarise yourself with the rules and systems.

Be aware that all admins will be required to either judge artwork or judge designs. Tasks that are done by hand in other ARPGs such as rolling genos or loot, registering uploads or banking items are automated or significantly simplified via our website, and do not need dedicated teams for those areas.

You don't have to be a 'people person' to work as an admin, but you must be prepared to work as a team. In order for things to run smoothly, we will expect you to:

- check the admin server every few days to participate in discussions and familiarise yourself with changes/decisions
- check your area queue regularly and endeavour to keep queue wait time under 2 weeks
- not share information discussed in admin areas with non-admins
- not use admin access to give yourself or another player an advantage or disadvantage
- have fun and make friends with the other admins (and players too!)

The most important thing to us is that our team can trust and be open with each other. Above all else, we are looking to recruit people who are flexible and will integrate well with our current mods. If you have bad blood with other players, especially those on our admin team, this may not be the right fit for you. Additionally, we love seeing people who are passionate, but you need to be sensitive and considerate to others as well. It's important to be able to discuss things maturely and understand that differences in opinion are not personal attacks. Often times the best ideas evolve when the team can freely discuss the pros and cons of a suggestion.

Further information

- We currently use deviantART, rexalia.world and discord to run our game. You will need a personal account on each of these.
- A good attitude is weighed much more highly than previous mod experience
- Your conduct on discord and on dA will be considered! At times admin work can be stressful and you need to be able to keep a cool head and remain polite!

Admin Work Areas

Departments Duties
JUDICO (Art Judging) Being an art-judging mod means you'll be checking art and awarding Magic Points (and sometimes, loot!). You'll get to read fabulous stories and see lots of amazing art, but you need to be okay with checking things methodically to award the appropriate MP and/or loot. Judging artwork will include checking the Rexal has their correct markings/colors, determining how many body sections are visible, assessing whether or not the background meets planes OR/AND elements, and reading through stories. Submissions are processed as individual MPLog cards, so Judico may be a good choice for someone who prefers to work in short bursts or might need to stop suddenly.
Design Being a Design mod means you'll be checking over import designs. This is one of the most time-consuming admin jobs, as you will have to check every marking on the submitted design to ensure it has the right color, range, edge, layering, etc. If you love designing imports yourself this is a great role for you because you'll already have a good understanding of design rules and will pick up some tips and tricks people use to make their designs really pop. An individual design may take 10-60 minutes to process, and we find design mods typically block out a few hours to sit and check designs once or twice a week, often tag teaming the queue when other mods are online.
Lore Being part of the lore team means you are responsible for handling events, quests, and ascensions. You'll need to have a passion for ancient history and be able to handle the methodical process of art judging. It's best if you work well in a team, as you'll need a good relationship with your fellow mods in order to brainstorm ideas for quests and events.
Miscellaneous While most tasks are automated (or semi-automated) on rexalia.world, there are a few jobs outside of the art and design judging areas that require manual oversight. As a misc mod it will be your duty to handle these journal queues and 'odd jobs' as they appear. You'll get a good handle on many different areas of the group, but your workload may be much more sporadic than an art or design judging mod. Due to the potential for a very low workload, we do not actively recruit for misc mods.
ARTIFEX (Art creation) Art mods create assets for the website such as items, banners, guide images, etc. Due to the potential for a very low workload, we do not actively recruit for art mods.
