Companions

Overview

What do you have there? Oh, it's a friend. Well, aren't you lucky...

Explanation

Companions are game boons that add to your overall performance in activities. They all have different game mechanics, so read their descriptions for you to know what they can do. Companion bonuses are activated by drawing them or writing about them in ARs.

When you apply a companion, it will be added to your Rexal's 'Attainments' tab in its juvenile stage. Juvenile companions function the same as adult companions, and you are free to draw an 'adult' companion as long as you use the default design seen on the juvenile. You are free to give your companion a name or gender if you wish.

If you want to use a custom design for your companion, you will need to 'grow them up' to their adult stage using a Charmed Collar. Each companion has a psd that you can use and loose design rules that must be followed. Companions can still be draw as juveniles once they are grown up, but they must always use your custom design.

Want your companion on your rexal's import image?

Easy peasy!

All you need is the item

Charmed Assorted Treats

Companions are put on their own Overlay Layer.
This means they should be saved as a transparent PNG that is the same size as our backgrounds - 2300x1600 pixels. Your PNG should look something like this:
Because of this setup, you will be able to resize your rex freely, without resizing the companion itself!

Custom Art?

Of course custom art is allowed. This comes with a few rules, though:

  • Custom companions always need to resemble the animal you've applied.
  • The art needs to resemble the custom coloration of your companion, or if you have not put a custom colored one, you can draw it's adolescent form.
  • You are allowed to slightly edit the original lineart for this purpose only. You can add fluff, wool or smaller things, however do not edit the lineart so much that it resembles another species.
(Remember: This only applies to Charmed Assorted Treats if you are using the group lineart.
The lineart in your companion tab cannot be edited.)
  • The companion should be about canon size and cannot be much bigger or smaller. ( Please see the Sizing Reference above! )
