Profile | Rarely seen and even more rarely heard, Leviathan is a rex who spends an inordinate amount of time in the briny depths of the ocean. Hopelessly ensnared by the song of the sea, they have spent many decades honing their magic to extend their ability to stay underwater for extended periods of time. Folk tales would have you believe they don't even breathe air at all anymore. An old rex, they have become a point in some tales told by parents to their children as a cautionary tale about a monster from the depths that will ensnare the child with their glowing scales to hypnotize them and lure them to their death. Is this really the case? Perhaps you should go find this elusive creature and ask them yourself. |
Appearance | Underwater this rexal has a powerful form, well adapted with broadly finned tail to move through the briny currents. Their claws are quite long and hooked, a sign of how little time they spend walking on land to wear them down. Should one ever happen to see them on land, they'd be quite an ungainly looking beast, excessively top heavy and possessed of a tail that seems much too large and long for their body. However in the water, stretched out and using that tail as propulsion, it would be hard to argue their physique is well adapted to that life. Their armored plates are long and taper into sharp points, worn down with the currents into an even and sharp edge. They can control these scales to help them turn and maneuver while swimming. Many assume that they would be able to recognize this rexal should they ever encounter her (not that most rexals know the Leviathan is female, it is simply a fable to them). However what few realize is that this rexal has come ashore many times in the Posian Isles and the Dome, however when they removed themselves from their preferred aquatic environment, they also typically choose not to let their bioluminescent spots glow. That is of course the part that everyone focuses on when they talk about 'seeing a monster while diving'. But without those brightly glowing spots, this rex is otherwise quite a simple if not even somewhat drab coloration, and most would not even pay them a second glance as they slowly shuffle amongst the stalls in a seaside market. This suits the Leviathan just fine. |
