Nuances and Gradients

Overview

They say the subtle nuances in a citizen's markings are whispers of the cosmos, reflecting the depth and diversity of their individual spirits.

Rules

  • Gradients are Allowed: Your markings can have a gradient effect, where the color smoothly changes across the marking.
  • These gradients are allowed to be picked from the same slider as the marking or base.
    • They do not need to be the same hue!
    • No marking should show more than two colors unless otherwise allowed.
  • These gradients must adhere to normal color rules! (i.e. an always-white marking like Snowed cannot have a black gradient, a marking that is not affected by Arcane cannot exhibit a gradient to a color picked from the Arcane slider.)
    • Gradients on markings affected by a color modifier are allowed to gradient from a base color to the color modifier color (i.e. an Ink Rexal with Ocean Arcane can have markings that are Ink that gradient to a color picked from the Ocean slider.)
  • Gradients can affect any marking on your Rexal, as long as it is not a color modifier!
  • The Base Coat Counts as Marking: The rexal's basecoat can just as well have these gradients.
    • The import PSD includes a "Free Gradient" layer that is always legal!
    • Any gradient on the Base Coat must be color-picked directly from the Base Coat slider.
  • Remember that you should not have more than one gradient per marking. It can be either subtle nuances or a stronger color gradient.

Disclaimer

  • Risk of Corrections: While we aim to be as lenient and accommodating as possible, please understand that going overboard with color deviations or breaking marking color rules might lead your design to be sent for corrections.

We understand the creative process involves taking risks and pushing boundaries, and we encourage that! Just remember that these rules are in place to maintain a balanced and harmonious design environment for all our users and for our mods to be able to judge swiftly and without roadblocks. Happy designing!

Markings and Color Gradients

You have the freedom to choose the colors for these markings, but there's a twist - the color can have a gradient effect, giving your Rexal a more lifelike and dynamic look!

Now, what does a gradient mean?

Think about a beautiful midday sky. Notice how the color changes gently from one shade to another? That's a gradient. In the case of your Rexal, it means the color of your markings can change across the marking itself.
