Stubble Trouble at Sine!

The sun hangs low in the sky and as your feet drag lazily across the rough stone path, your mind drifts to thoughts of a warm meal and soft bed. Tragically your fantasy is shattered by a commotion in the town's square. You move to join the quickly forming crowd and find a young rexal drenched in sweat and gasping for air. Wisps of smoke trail from every aperture and it is clear to most present that the lad has overexerted himself. Panakeia pushes past you with a cursory apology, noticibly more concerned for the youth than any inconvenience he may have caused you.

"Bring me water!" instructs the healer, as he grips the youth's shoulders firmly and guides him to sit on the cold, hard earth. Panakeia's piercing blue eyes do not waver from his patient, but there is an unmistakable ficker of red from his apertures, suggesting to anyone paying enough attention that the pair are communicating telepathically. Hushed whispers turn to silence as Panakeia addresses the crowd in a booming voice that is quite unmatching of his usual soft demeanour.

"We need aid at the farm on the western outskirts! There is a wildfire in Sine!"

It is not uncommon for Rex to use fire to help shape the land in the Dome. Many woodland areas near cities have been cleared to allow for the growth of grasses to facilitate animal agriculture. Fields often sit fallow for a season before the stubble, dead plant material, is cleared with fire. The fields can then be plowed and planted. Unfortunately, one such operation in Sine was interrupted by unusally strong winds, which fanned the flames and sent sparks flying kilometeres into nearby mediterranean forests, sparking a wildfie. Urgent action must be taken to prevent it spreading and threatening lives and property.

Remember that for regular Rex, magic is utilitarian. While they can perform psychokinesis, they cannot put the fire out by creating rain! The fundamental principle of rexal magic is that it allows for manipulation, but not creation. If you need a refresher, check out the Magic tab of the Species Guide.

A Call to Aid!

High winds are fanning the flames and making conditions dangerous. Those with strong magic are being encouraged to the frontlines to move flaming logs and dump large amphoras of water, however everyone can do their part.

  • Depict your Rexal aiding the citizens of Sine with the wildfire.
  • Note that you do not need to directly fight the actual fire, for example, your rexal could also help by digging fire lines into the ground to stop the fires from spreading further.

Requirements

🌿 Your Rexal must be actively fulfilling the prompt
🌿 The prompt must be depicted at the location described below

Location

Land around Sine
Sine is surrounded by meditteranean forests, shrublands, and grasslands. Some of the land around the town has been cleared for livestock rearing and crop farming, but not to the degree that it eliminates the risk to life and property.

The event will conclude on 30 April 2026.
