Albeit the least favored season among most rexals (for a good reason), there is no denying the importance of winter in the yearly cycle. A time for rest and reset; to recover while tucked away in the safety of their warm abodes amongst loved ones.

When winter comes early to the Dome, Gemmalyn will bestow a special gift among those that were born during the season of early frost, to welcome Her children into Her care. These hatchlings are considered more in-tune with the winter months, and with thicker skin to match.

Alternatively, some parents may take this to be a blessing from Canto; a way to congratulate the hatchling on their tenacity and strength to be born during such a cold, inhospitable time of year.

For most dome-dwellers, this is considered a great honor, as it is always a joyous event for an elder to give a child their mark. However, some may see this as an ill-omen for the child, fearing that the rexal will grow up with a heart as cold as ice to match their unusual magic.
